So, this weekend, we were catching up on old tv, and of course that included New Girl because, let’s face it, that show is probably one of the best shows on TV. Anyways…. if you’ve never watched New Girl, you need to know this, it’s about 3 guys and 1 girl who are all roommates…. it’s funny – this one guy, Schmidt. He used to be overweight, but then went along, lost a SHIT ton of weight, got hot, and became a huge player. Only caring about being hot and banging other hot chicks. In season 1 (i think) he ends up hooking up with Cece who is this totally hot indian model. ANYWAYS… good for him right???
Well, in season 2, you learn that Cece and Schmidt break up, Cece gets into an arranged marriage, and Schmidt is desperately trying to find someone to “love”. In comes the ex-girlfriend… the girl that liked Schmidt when he was big… the girl, who also, isn’t the skinniest girl in the world. This whole synopsis brings me to my point…………….. When guys are forced to choose, they will always choose hot, over smart, funny, not the skinniest… RIGHT???? Well, in the season finale, Schmidt is forced to choose between the two… the hot, tall, perfect indian model, or the shorter, cute, bigger, funnier, normal girl. WHO WILL HE PICK???
Back to my rant though here for a hot second. (again, not that I care at this point in time because of Juan, but let me tell you, growing up, dating, and even now, just being a FEMALE I feel this way)…. Why is it that if you are talking to a guy, or getting to know him, or maybe dating/flirting WHATEVER, and things are going great, but then someone HOTTER, someone SMALLER, someone thats better looking on the eye comes along, you get thrown into the friend zone??? You get thrown under the curb…. Don’t guys realize that we have feelings too? Don’t you think there’s a REASON you are leading us to believe you like us??? Don’t you think we are just tying to protect our 6-pack abs with a layer of chubby goodness??? But inside, we are AMAZING people, but you can’t get over how we look?
I’m sorry, but this has happened to me on numerous occasions when I was dating…. You meet a guy, you think it’s going somewhere, you have SO MUCH FUN, and then BAMMMMMMMM, oh, this is my “NEW” friend, the HOT airhead that has big boobs and has a perfect tan… (not ALLLLL hot people are airheads, I know, but do you see where I’m going???). Why isn’t the girl who has a few more pounds than bust sizes the one that gets sidelined. DID YOU NOT LIKE your conversations? Did you not LIKE the way she made you felt??? because you know what, you just made HER feel like she’s completely ugly and useless…. yep I said it – that’s 100% how I felt when I used to get rejected for the more attractive girl… no matter how COOL you are, how FUN they have with you, if they find someone more attractive…. see YA LATER! I know guys like confidence, and you can EXUDE confidence, but the minute that girl with amazing legs and rocks the CUTEST dress walks in the room, the confidence falls off like a prom dress. AND YOU SEE THAT IN THE SEASON FINALE… you see him so happy with this bigger girl, having fun, and then Cece comes along and is just like, BAM i want you back… no he has to choose… you know what sucks, BEING THE GIRL HE DOESN’T CHOOSE…… GUYS GIVE THE BIGGER GIRL A CHANCE, I BET SHE’S WAY BETTER THEN YOU THINK!
Then you just think about why you would even want to be with someone like that, and I’m sure you find someone better down the road that isn’t going to care about all of your curves, you imperfections, you extra cushion…. but up until that point…. you’re depressed HAHAHAHHA… (at least I was the whole time)….. It’s nice losing weight, and looking better, but you know what, I’m never going to be a size 2, I’m never going to be perfect, I’m going to be strong, and not skinny, and I love it… I’m ok with it because it’s ok with someone else!
OK ANYWAYS – a lot of people have been asking what I’ve been eating, and sure, I haven’t been writing it down, but I know what I’ve been following, and it’s not a DIET, it’s a healthy eating plan…… An amazing blogger and weight loss extrodinare Tessa Sweats, posted this, this morning – this is what I DO – IT’s THE NO SHIT DIET… aka, DONT EAT SHIT:

I get this question almost daily. today’s Work It Out addresses the questions. I won’t share my exact diet. I’m still learning what is best for me, and – like I ALWAYS say – diet is personal. Paleo, vegan, vegetarian, “intuitive” eating, carb-heavy, protein whores (guilty)… the list goes on forever.
What I WILL share are some of my staples for keeping (mostly) healthy.
There is a lot of talk about special diets. I don’t buy into any of them for one reason – I think diet is about common sense. It’s a lifestyle. A diet, as we most often refer to it, is a finite thing usually aimed at weight loss or some quick fix. I know I was just one a pretty strict competition diet. That is NOT sustainable. You life-diet should be balanced and include a variety of foods. No shit, right?
Therefore, I’m starting a new movement:
Eat 5-6 meals per day – every 2-3 hours, with the last meal being fairly close to bed time (your body needs to fuel to heal overnight)
Don’t be afraid of carbs or fruit – they provide valuable nutrients. Everything in moderation!
Eat your veggies! They fill you up without adding ton of calories or fat, and are vitamin and nutrient rich
Avoid large amounts of processed foods, sugar, and sodium. In excess, they bad for your health and you just won’t feel good the next day
If you want a “cheat” or “treat,” HAVE IT. Just don’t have it all day, every day. I like wine and dessert, so I have both
Veggies – asparagus, broccoli, broccoli slaw, brussels, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, dark leafy greens (like spinach and kale), mushrooms, onions, parsnips, red peppers
Fruits – apples, bananas (no more than 1x day), berries of any kind, cherries, grapefruit, pineapple, watermelon
Complex Carbs – barley, beans, Ezekiel bread, oatmeal, millet, multi-grain cereal (watch the sugar and sodium), sweet potato, quinoa, wild or brown rice, winter squash
Protein – bison, chicken, eggs (yolks in moderation), lean beef, salmon, tempeh, tofu, turkey, TVP, white fish (I love cod, sea bass, swordfish, tilapia, and trout)
Fats – avocados, chia seeds, coconut (oil and whole), flax, nuts/nut butters (almonds and walnuts are the best), olive oil, seeds (pumpkin, sesame, and sunflower)
Dairy – almond milk (unsweetened), cottage cheese (no salt added), plain non-fat greek yogurt
Extracts – almond, butter, butterscotch, coconut, coffee, maple, peppermint, vanilla
Spices – black pepper, cardamom, cayenne, cinnamon, cocoa powder, coriander, cumin, curry powder, garam masala, garlic, ginger, nutmeg, red pepper flakes
Acids – apple cider vinegar, lemon, lime, rice vinegar, white balsamic
Herbs – basil, cilantro, dill, mint, rosemary, sage, thyme
Sauces/Toppings – BBQ sauce,hot sauce (I love Cholula and Sriracha), hummus, mustard, salsa, tomato sauce (note: make your own when possible – read the labels and you’ll be shocked at the sodium and sugars added!)

Liquid Smoke (the Colgin brand I buy is all-natural and vegan)
Nutritional Yeast (high in B-12 and protein, has a cheesy/nutty flavor)

PLEASE do not take the this as the be-all, end-all list of foods to eat. This is a sampling of my staples. I eat a massive variety of food – it helps me not get bored, which make it easier to keep it clean. I definitely indulge as well. Like tonight – I know I’m going to have an awesome dinner out. Rather than worry about salty, fatty, yummy food, I make more of an effort to keep it clean throughout the day today!
This is life, not heaven. You don’t have to be perfect. Live life, eat good food, and share it with those you love.

If it’s tied to a belief or you know that’s the way your body functions, more power to you!
