• Birthday's, Traveling and NEW PEOPLE!

    Well, my friends… it has been one long week – let me tell you – when you are on the road, it is really hard to get workouts in, eat right, all that crap!!!! I left last Thursday for Miami — and of course, I didn’t eat perfect, mostly because timing was just totally off – getting up at 4am to catch a flight, and then not like being in a place really where you can eat till 2pm or so – you literally shove whatever you can get your hands on, in your mouth. (HAHAHAHA that sounded horrible HAHA) Anyways… being there wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be as far as me looking horrible. But let me tell you, those Miami people, they are HOT. and you’ve gotta look HOT to be there.. haha – that’s totally not my scene, but I can tell you, I would have felt a lot worse about myself if I hadn’t lost weight…. I mean shit, there really are some towns that really ARE ALL ABOUT LOOKS! And when you are not comfortable in your own body, the last thing you want to do is GO TO THESE PLACES… AM I RIGHT???  I know we are all working hard, and we are all beautiful, but sometimes, being in a place where EVERYONE IS GORGEOUS, we just think, oh fuck, this sucks!

    The next morning, we got to get a workout in, that was great – I got to workout with some of my friends, and they clearly, killed the workout, and I was hurting… running in Florida humidity, did it for me — I just couldn’t get my full workout in… but I at least did something to work off all the booze that was consumed the night/day before! That’s all that matters, RIGHT? I think the hardest thing is making sure you stay on track, and it’s so hard, because you fall to things like eating and drinking, but, if you just TRY to workout while you are gone, that’s better then nothing!

    Well – then, we had a wedding and my BIRTHDAY! Oh I have so much to say about this…….. One, is you know what, it was my birthday, and yes, I’m not going to freaking WATCH WHAT I EAT on the ONE day of year we are supposed to be celebrating how AWESOME I am… I mean, like I always say, yes, weight loss sucks, but you still have to ENJOY LIFE. So if you decide to stuff your mouth with meat on your birthday (yes, I really did just say that) then GO AHEAD AND STUFF YOUR MOUTH! It was funny because one friend was like, just behave, don’t go crazy…….. WELL, ok you need to calm the f**k down… don’t tell me how to live my life on my birthday HAHA. Everyone deserves some indulgence, and on your birthday, INDULGE AWAY!

    Holy shit balls and alcohol – did I really say that? I actually feel comfortable wearing sleeveless clothes??? I actually feel like I’m not a big elephant…?!?!!? WHAT?? You say what now??? I cannot tell you how long I’ve waited for this day to come…. I literally, all summer, for the past 28 years, have worn sweaters, cardigans, long sleeve shirts, every EVERY damn summer… I don’t even think I was comfortable wearing a tshirt… yeah, that’s how bad I hated my arms… HOW horrible is that? I would rather sweat balls, then show those monster arms… but nope, not anymore…. I’m letting these babies flap…

    We went to a concert this weekend, and man, I felt GOOD about how I looked… I felt like hey, I’m NOT huge… and I would like everyone to notice that hahahahaa – unfortunately, no one knew that I’ve actually came a long ways to get to where I am right now, hahahaha, but I did, and my friend that I was with did, and it just felt good to have some confidence. Dudes, this is what keeps driving me, this is what gets me to the gym every DAMN DAY, looking at these pictures of myself and seeing the difference… It’s funny, I was looking back at all my old photos, and WOW I couldn’t tell you a photo where I didn’t look like a crazy person because the camera was so high up in the air to hide all my chins! I MEAN REALLY, sometime, I will let you all go through all of my photos HAHA, you all are going to be like, what the HECK was her problem? Was she unstable? hahahaha… I never EVER let anyone take a picture of me looking straight on, never.. that was like the number one thing I would never allow – because that was my worst WORST look ever…

    It’s funny, because we ran the Lozilu this weekend, and our shirts said, “Be Strong, Be Confident, Be You.” I used to believe that all it took was to believe in yourself… that no matter what, we are beautiful… and don’t get me wrong, I still believe it – but it’s just so damn hard trying to convince yourself, when you are at your biggest in life, 260, that you are beautiful. All those mind games, I was not happy… me, now, I’m finally getting there… I don’t need someone to tell me, I think I finally believe it… but where I was going with that, is that, we are just so quick to judge and put ourselves down, and there’s no way you are going to tell me to stop that when you’ve never walked in my shoes…. being strong and confident, comes from a number of things, and if you don’t feel good in your own skin, you aren’t going to feel any of that. Why do we do that to ourselves? Then, of course, we mask the pain with a dozen donuts and a bottle of wine, (I MEAN YOU KNOW I’M RIGHT)… instead of making a change…. I will say, everyone, make that change… You’ll never know how amazing I feel now that I’m down 65lbs… I finally feel STRONG, CONFIDENT, and MYSELF…. I want to keep doing this, for that exact reason.

Why the HELL is it so hard to just STICK to something…?!?!?!! I don’t get it – I keep telling myself, I only have X day’s – only X day’s don’t FUCK IT UP ANDREA… and what do I do? Get drunk and get a damn BIG MAC. Can someone make me an app where if I blow into it like a breathalyzer, that my car will lock up and NOT DRIVE ME TO THE NEAREST FAST FOOD JOINT??? SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE ME THAT APP DAMNIT! That’s my biggest mistake… I would probably be 80lbs smaller if Ronald McDonald didn’t come knocking on my car window at 1am when I’ve had one or two too many VODS AND WADS?!?!

    Last rant for today, before I leave you with something worth reading in this post…. GUYS. This is for the guys…. when you ignore a girl because she used to be big, and then all of the sudden you are all about them because they’ve lost weight, THAT MEANS YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE. Just stop trying. Yeah, our size might have changed, but our personality is the same, and clearly, if you, before, “liked us because we were really cool but couldn’t date us because it’s not right” thennnnnnnnnnn, aka that means, you were ashamed. You don’t deserve someone that has bettered themselves… you don’t :). And if you have lost lots of weight, you know what I’m talking about… guys are stupid, and they will never understand the emotional side of women… EVER. HAHA. EVERRRRRRRRRRR.

    Forever a chubster. That’s how I feel HAHAHA… This weekend I went dress shopping with my soon to be, sister-in-laws, who are super good looking and slim, might I add…. and I just felt like a serious whale. I know I’m not supposed to put myself down… and I don’t think it helps that I freaking wore a maxi dress so I looked like an even BIGGER whale, but we were walking around that mall and I was just like… WAHHHHH I hate the way I look…. I don’t look attractive, and I look huge… so that just made my sunday GREAT. I hate looking in the mirrors, I really do, like why can’t they all get taken out of my house?!?! That would make things so much easier… Anyways…. That’s what made me just think… listen, I have some big events coming up – I’m going to Miami in like 12 days, and then I have my bachelorette party in like 36 days, I don’t want to feel this way! It’s hard being the biggest girl in the group… in Miami, I’m def going to be, and i know it’s going to be fun and the people I’m going with are just a blast, and the bride to be, amazing…. but I can’t help feeling like I’m HUGE, and I’m not going to look as awesome as all of them, and I’m just going to feel big haha… I am going to need to have a bunch of vods and wads to feel comfortable. hahaha.. but why do I always feel like that? Why can’t I just be comfortable in my own skin?!?!? I DONT GET IT!!!!!!!! Someone help. haha

    Can I tell you one thing though…. I think I love CrossFit and it’s because it’s a sport that you can be good at without being a size 2 twig…. there are so many inspirational athletes out there that are like BIG! And big in a good way, big as in, strong, and beasts… just really muscular, strong, fast, beasts… so many of them too, started out as a bigger people too – like some of them weren’t always tiny athletes… they have worked for where they have gotten, and even NOW they aren’t tiny… so it gives me hope that maybe one day I can be a strong crossfit competitor. Shit, I have the thighs to be a athlete, I might as well BE ONE! No but for real, at the BOX, when we have a strength WOD, I’m right up there with the top girls….. bc I’m strong as shit… and thats awesome – but I have so much other stuff to work on before I could ever think of myself as a competitor. Hopefully soon, we will see.. but this type of thing, crossfit, and feeling like I’ve finally found a sport for bigger girls, where you can actually be successful, is an amazing feeling.

    I just want to know why losing weight is such a pain in the ass. I really don’t. All the ups and downs, and the people that just don’t get it – I hate it… It’s so hard, SO HARD, to be consistant and stay on track…. everyday its something new, it’s someone telling you, you can’t – it’s someone telling you that you can cheat, it won’t be the end of the world, it’s YOURSELF telling yourself that you will never succeed… ugh, it’s all of these things…. this stupid mind game is back in my head, and I’m feeling like I’m not winning.

    Anyways, today was TOTALLY a random blog, but you know what, I went to the gym, I ate well so far, and I think I finally got my butterfly so I can kip when I do my pull-ups at crossfit HAHA.. so today, has been a good day (so far… now 39 more days to go)

     

     

  • WE'RE GROWING! And I don't mean my belly….

    SO as some of you know, I started this little blog, and then I started selling t-shirts, then I started ACTUALLY inspiring people… so, I thought, let’s KEEP THIS GOING! RIGHT??? Instead of celebrating with cupcakes and pizza and cheat meals, I decided to just write this amazing celebratory blog, and just pretending I’m sitting on my couch eating horrible things and not gaining a pound 🙂

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR YOU??? NO MORE APOLOGY BLOGS ABOUT HOW LONG MY G-DAMN TANKS TAKE TO GET TO YOU!!! YAY… let’s all clap for the fact that I will NO LONGER BE PISSING PEOPLE OFF!!!!!! I know you guys have just been so patient… but in the next month or so, you will start seeing a SERIOUSLY quicker turn around time…. I mean, before it was 2 weeks or MORE, and now it’s going to be 2 DAYS!!!! AHHH IM SO EXCITED I COULD EAT A HALF GALLON OF ICE CREAM!     The other thing is that I have this amazing friend now helping me on the page – Her name is Shannon, and she’s basically my twin… We have all the same feelings/doubts/struggles on weight loss, we both do crossfit, and we both basically say the same thing… with this getting bigger, me having 2 jobs, and a wedding coming up, I needed help… so I wanted to introduce you all to Shannon… she’s just as amazing as all of you, and I hope that we can both inspire people on a daily basis… or maybe not inspire, but motivate, and just let you know that WEIGHT LOSS SUCKS, and we are all in the same boat 🙂

  • Epic cheat day… er, WEEK… UGH. OH AND MY WEDDING DRESS IS TOO BIG!!

    WELL – who’s feeling FAT today? Yep, I said FAT… because, me, myself, and I… I’m feeling FAT! UGH. I really let myself go this week.. and it’s bad.. it’s horrible actually… I can already feel the headaches coming back, the feeling that my chin is getting huge, and that my belly went from kind-of-big to getting-bigger… why is it that we let ourselves fail like that????

    The biggest problem for me over the past week was the events… my wedding shower was this past weekend – and yeah, I might not have ate a ton, because I was busy mingling and socializing with my amazing friends and family that came out, but it was the drinking… yep, the drinking…. This week I was a total alcoholic. It’s HORRIBLE. I remember talking about how I wasn’t going to drink and I was going to be good and I wanted this more than a drink, and I swore off drinking, well that was all fine and dandy, for that month… but then my mental battle failed, and I decided that having fun, socializing, and having one or two… errr 20 VODS and WADS was more fun then not. WOOPS. Epic EPIC FAIL….. so of course, I drank A LOT at the shower… (I don’t do well in social situations when I’M the center of attention… it’s kind of funny, because I LOVE being the center of attention, but when I MAKE MYSELF the center of attention, like I get drunk and make a fool out of myself HAHAHA… that kind of attention is fun, but the type where everyone is staring at you opening presents… NOT A FAN!) Anyways, that was just the start of it…. so that night, I got drunk and housed some pizza… SURE, that will make it easy to fit into my wedding dress – RIGHT?!?!?! UGH

    SO then, of course, well ALL KNOW we had the 4th of July… which is just a HORRIBLE excuse to drink and eat and eat and EAT.. and did we do that? Yes… and actually when I look back, I didn’t eat a lot ———— wait….. ————- still thinking ————— I might have ate a bag of chips? Maybe ONLY HALF…. yep… that happened.. BUT other than that, just chicken 🙂 hahaha… UGH I’m A MESS. Why is this so hard.. why is will power, so DAMN HARD. Why can’t I just be smart and stay sober and not eat junk food???? WHY NOT ANDREA???? This is 100% the HARDEST part about weight loss and trying to get to your goals… the fun stuff in the middle that you don’t want to miss…

    Of course other nights during last week, there were “hang outs” which involved drinking… there were “let’s grab beers” which involved drinking AND eating…. ugh… I’m just a weight loss mess right now – that’s right, I’ve been hit by the weight loss mac truck… hopefully I will come back and not mess up again! At least AT LEAST I GOT A FEW WORKOUTS IN… omg, and anyone reading this blog that’s in the binghamton area, you need to go to my friends BOX, Grace in Motion in Vestal… They were AMAZING… they really helped me out and have an amazing gym.. everyone go there!!!  So I got a few workouts in.. SURE, but that’s not going to make up for all the calories I consumed this weekend… NOT ONE BIT.

    I was having a conversation with my friend yesterday… and we are both bigger girls, trying to lose weight… we’ve never been small, and we probably never will be super tiny (fit and in shape, YES, but a twig, NO)… anyways, of course, no offense in any way to anyone that is small… you work just as hard and you are amazing… BUT let me say this… it’s harder being a larger girl, because it takes so much more effort on our parts to get down to a healthy weight, and maintain it – and unfortunately, I personally feel like you’ll never really know how hard it is unless you’ve started from a larger size and had to go down… I have amazing friends that are smaller and work really hard and keep their weight at a nice strong healthy weight, but when you add that mental side to it – the negativity, all of that stuff, it’s so much harder to get on track, to stay on track, because you never think you are worth it… you never think you will ever be able to achieve that greatness, so saying, I’ll start monday, I’ll get my ass in gear, it’s much harder for us to follow through… sure that might sound like an excuse, but for me, it’s not…. for me this whole thing is a mental battle… and it starts with trying to beat that battle…. UGHHHH.

    ANYWAYS, I’m back on the horse today… going to start working out twice a day now, and just really get my ass in gear… im sick of feeling this way, and I can’t believe I feel off track so much – OH AND GUESS WHAT – I TRIED ON MY WEDDING DRESS BEFORE I LEFT AND ITS 3 SIZES TOO BIG (I’m going to post a side pic of me, and HOPE HOPE HOPE JUAN DOESN’T SEE THIS CRAP! hahahahahaha) anyways, I was SO HAPPY i had tears, I actually looked good and happy!!! 🙂 This wedding is getting CLOSE and I’m SO HAPPY that I’ve come so far… I just need to keep going 🙂

    Exercise science is a fine and intellectually fascinating thing. But sometimes you just want someone to lay out guidelines for how to put the newest fitness research into practice.

    An article in the May-June issue of the American College of Sports Medicine’s Health & Fitness Journal does just that. In 12 exercises deploying only body weight, a chair and a wall, it fulfills the latest mandates for high-intensity effort, which essentially combines a long run and a visit to the weight room into about seven minutes of steady discomfort — all of it based on science.

    “There’s very good evidence” that high-intensity interval training provides “many of the fitness benefits of prolonged endurance training but in much less time,” says Chris Jordan, the director of exercise physiology at the Human Performance Institute in Orlando, Fla., and co-author of the new article.

    Work by scientists at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, and other institutions shows, for instance, that even a few minutes of training at an intensity approaching your maximum capacity produces molecular changes within muscles comparable to those of several hours of running or bike riding.

    Interval training, though, requires intervals; the extremely intense activity must be intermingled with brief periods of recovery. In the program outlined by Mr. Jordan and his colleagues, this recovery is provided in part by a 10-second rest between exercises. But even more, he says, it’s accomplished by alternating an exercise that emphasizes the large muscles in the upper body with those in the lower body. During the intermezzo, the unexercised muscles have a moment to, metaphorically, catch their breath, which makes the order of the exercises important.

    The exercises should be performed in rapid succession, allowing 30 seconds for each, while, throughout, the intensity hovers at about an 8 on a discomfort scale of 1 to 10, Mr. Jordan says. Those seven minutes should be, in a word, unpleasant. The upside is, after seven minutes, you’re done.
